The Joseph Rowntree Report was released this week. Prof Ross Anderson was one of the authors, we work closely with Ross at TheBig Opt Out. The Report highlights that the NHS Care Programme is potentially unlawful and calls for Detailed Care Record and the Secondary User Service (SUS) to be scrapped. DNA data to be added to NHS database

The government is proposing to add DNA data to the NHS Care Records according to the Mail On Sunday.

Thee government states in the Mail On Sunday story that it wants to maximise the use of patient data and DNA for research. No doubt this means selling both medical records and DNA to private companies as the story from The Telegraph shows is currently happening.

DH Rolling Out SPINE

It appears that the DH plans to quietly roll out SPINE/Summary Care Record without even discussing it with local doctors in the areas they plan to roll it out. The DH seem hope no one will notice and so people will be included by default. More about the story can be found here

If you hear that your local Primary Care Trust are rolling out SPINE/Summary Care Record in your area can you let us know? PCT’s should be writing to patients about SPINE/Summary Care Record when they rolling it out. Again if you do not receive a letter please can you let us know.
